Cody, Wyoming

Our next stop was Cody Wyoming

Several people told us we should stop by Cody Wyoming to see the Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museums - a town on the east side of Yellowstone.  

We drove through parts of Yellowstone we didn't see before (hard to believe with all the miles we logged in the park!) 

The scenic drive to Cody was really pretty, with lots of windy roads.

Our only drive through Yellowstone with "Julie" (coach).

Example of results to wildfire in Yellowstone, this one from 2003.  I wondered why they left all the old tree trunks on the forest floor (fuel for a future fire!) and it was interesting to learn that the Lodgepole Pines drop seedlings that are sealed/protected until they reach a high heat (from a fire) which allows the forest to re-generate after a fire - you can see some small Pines growing in this pic.  It's amazing how Mother Nature works!  

Cody has an “Old Trail Town” you can walk through 

with old cabins/bldgs they have moved here.. lots of old wagons etc..

While John enjoyed spending most of the day at the Buffalo Bill museums, while I had a 'chill' day, drove around town some & ran errands.

Then we had dinner at Irma’s (famous prime rib buffet) and after dinner show at "Dan Millers Cowboy Revue" that ended up being a very small audience vs a crowded full house, which was more intimate and fun. We really enjoyed the show.

Dan's daughter has been performing with him since she was 6 yrs old 

and plays the mandolin and violin
