After our week in Spearfish, we stopped in Rapid City SD for a quick recall/warranty repair at a Freightliner Truck facility and spent the day there while they were working on the coach to take a drive thru Custer State park.
While we had driven thru the Needles Highway last year ( as well as visited Crazy Horse & Mount Rushmore), this was our first time to drive all the way down/thru Custer State Park to see the Buffalo and got a surprise herd of donkeys too.
We didn’t know we should have brought carrots to feed them!
Lots of Buffalo
Needles Highway
It was a beautiful day for a drive and you could still see some of the recent September summer snowfall left on the mountain.
I had to pull out my winter hat for part of the drive with the Jeep top being open!
Thru one of the tunnels you can see Mount Rushmore -
pic not very good though, can barely see it..
Updated to add link to full video of our drive
