Rifle & Meeker Colorado

Rifle Falls

When we left Estes Park, we drove thru Glenwood Canyon,
where we could see the devastation from the recent fire there..

All the traffic on I-70 is on one side now while the other was/is being used to deal with the fire/cleanup...Very sad.

We made a quick overnight stop in Rifle Colorado before going to visit our friends Leroy & Mary in Meeker for the weekend.   While in Rifle, our friends  recommended we visit the Rifle Falls State Park and it was a real gem of a state park.

A beautiful triple waterfall with caves in the limestone cliffs -
rooms/caverns so large in the caves you need flashlights to explore.

The next day we headed to Meeker and had a great weekend with our friends.

We hiked up a trail overlooking the town of Meeker,

We enjoyed a beautiful drive thru Gypsum to Trappers Lake for a picnic,

We got to see some of the color change already happening in Colorado.

We had a fabulous weekend visiting with our friends and seeing their beautiful new place.

Cheers!
